Dianna E. Abney, M.D.

BIOGRAPHY

Dianna E. Abney, M.D., joined the Pediatric Health Network from Cambridge Pediatrics, her primary care pediatric practice in Waldorf, Maryland. She has served as the health officer of the Charles County Department of Health. Dr. Abney has been a longtime advocate for children’s health issues in the region, and during her career has served in leadership positions on a number of boards and committees.

She previously served as the medical director of the Health Department’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention program and represents Health Officers on the Child Environmental Health and Protection Council and on the Statewide Advisory Commission on Immunizations, which she chairs. She is the past chair of the Healthcare Disparities committee of MedChi, the Maryland Medical Society.

Dr. Abney participates in practice based research with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Medical Association. Her research interests include prevention of childhood obesity, treatment and prevention of child abuse, immunizations and decreasing health care disparities.
