You Asked, We Listened: New Options for PHN Quality Improvement Participation

Summary

We’ve received feedback from our network that the Asthma Initiative is more demanding than expected, given the unprecedented strain of the past year and ongoing demands on practice resources. We want to be responsive to this feedback while upholding the requirements for membership to a clinically integrated network.

We’ve received feedback from our network that the Asthma Initiative is more demanding than expected, given the unprecedented strain of the past year and ongoing demands on practice resources. We want to be responsive to this feedback while upholding the requirements for membership to a clinically integrated network.
To address this, we’ve developed the following choices for practices:
  1. If the asthma initiative is manageable for your practice, please plan to continue with the initiative.
  1. You can continue participating in the Asthma Initiative and only focus on one measure for improvement (rather than 2) – implementation of and/or improvement in use of the Asthma Control Test. MOC credit is still available for this option.
  1. A third quality alternative for our practices participating in the Aetna contract is, at minimum, to demonstrate improvement in the HEDIS quality measures specified in that contract. This effort will be supported by Quality Improvement Coaching with PHN’s QI team.
We ask that all PHN member practices respond to this email with their choice by Friday, May 28 so that we can move forward to provide your practice with support and coaching as needed. We would also be happy to meet with you if you have additional questions or comments.
As we grow in our early stages as a network, we are working to meet your needs and learning how best to do so while fulfilling our mission.
