Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers-Revised (M-CHAT R/F): 23-item autism screening tool for children ages 16-30 months.

Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ): A 50-item parent or self-report measure for ages 4+.

Parent Observation of Social Interactions (POSI): A 7-item parent report screening instrument for ages 16-36 months. The POSI is included on the 18-, 24-, and 30-month Survey of Well-being of Young Children (SWYC).

Unstuck and On-Target Parent Resources: Free, parent-facing educational handouts and videos from the Unstuck and On Target executive dysfunction intervention developed at Children’s National for children with ADHD, autism, and/or learning disorders. Covers cognitive inflexibility, emotional dysregulation, and other executive functioning problems. The website also includes free online continuing education credits for elementary educators on the Unstuck curriculum.

Children’s National Visual Supports and Resources: Family-facing website from the Beyond the Spectrum program at Children’s National. Includes visual schedules and teaching stories for medical procedures including blood draws, EEG, and dental examinations.

Communicating Visually in Pediatrics: A Step-by-Step Tool for Supporting Patients and Caregivers: Nearly 400 easy-to-understand, full-color images depict common medical procedures, from bandaging to vaccine administration as well as important patient-provider communication, including describing symptoms or post-visit instructions. Each image is captioned in both English and Spanish for maximum in-office utility, and the pages are fully wipeable for simple disinfecting after each patient.

The Parent Playbook: A free online introductory course about autism spectrum disorders aimed at parents and caregivers. The course is provided as a collaboration between the Virginia Commonwealth University Autism Center for Excellence and the Virginia Autism Council.

ASD Toolkit for Pediatric Primary Care Providers in DC: This toolkit focuses specifically on supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families by providing primary care providers with the tools to help families navigate the developmental disabilities landscape in Washington, DC.
