Read Dr. Sandy Chung’s August newsletter Doctor’s Note to PHN members and make sure to subscribe to receive important updates and announcements from the network.

Dear PHN members,
August has been an incredibly busy month for our community. So many of you attended PHN’s Special Return-to-School Town Hall as you work diligently to help your patients and their parents prepare for this school year. For more reading and if you find it helpful, look for my article published in the August Contemporary Pediatrics titled, “The Challenge of Virtual Learning.” In it, I discuss how children and adolescents were affected by virtual learning and what we as pediatricians should do to help with the transition back to in-person schooling this year. Also, we are happy to report we had over 100 of you attend each of our six Future of Pediatric virtual sessions, which concluded Tuesday, August 24. It was wonderful to connect with you virtually and to learn together from tremendous experts on top-of-mind topics like food security, sexual health, and asthma during the time of COVID-19, and also the many health challenges our patients continue to face during the pandemic like celiac disease, dermatologic conditions, minor injuries and more. Thank you to all of you who attended, and a special thanks to our expert speakers for the time and thoughtfulness you put toward your presentations. In a time when so much is being asked of us, we are thankful we have this community to lean on and learn with.

Coming up, we recently announced our fall lineup for Grand Rounds which you can view on our website. We have many other important events in September, as well as an exciting accreditation announcement from Children’s National Hospital, so please enjoy and share this month’s newsletter.

Sincerely,

Sandy Chung, M.D.
